Let us help you decide!

Making ethical, green and sustainable decisions when we are buying is hard … we want things there and then and (in the West especially) we are driven by a culture of consumerism.

Today’s action is to use our buying flow chart to help you decide about that next purchase. It can be applied to anything, and the idea is to encourage you to pause and think a little …

The flow chart

Here we go, just start in the green diamond and ask yourself these questions …

Why is this important?

Consumerism – unthinking consumerism – is driving a lot of the problems we are facing – in particular climate change, plastic pollution, and biodiversity loss. We are simply using too much “stuff” that, in reality, we don’t need.

Questions about what is essential and what is not essential are open to debate, and some things that one person would say are “needs”, another person might say are just “wants”. The important thing is that we all think about it more than we do at the moment, and consciously factor in environmental and ethical concerns into our buying decisions.
